configure a Synaptics TouchPad

NAME

tpconfig - configure a Synaptics TouchPad

SYNOPSIS

tpconfig [options]

DESCRIPTION

tpconfig allows you to configure the Synaptics TouchPad on your laptop computer or keyboard. Under Debian GNU/Linux, you should set the OPTIONS variable in the file /etc/init.d/synaptics to the configuration options that you like.

OPTIONS

-i, --info

Display current TouchPad configuration.

-q, --quiet, --silent

Supress verbose output.

-2, --two-button

Set two-button mode. In two-button mode, the left button is interpreted as a left button press.

-3, --three-button

Set three-button mode. In three-button mode, the left button is interpreted as a middle button press. If you set this option, you should also enable tapmode to use the left button.

-a

Display current mode as absolute or relative.

--absolute, --relative

Set mode to absolute or relative.

-c[0,1], --corner=[0,1]

Disable/enable corner taps. With corner taps enabled, a tap in the upper right corner simulates a middle or right button press.

-e[0,1,3], --edgemode=[0,1,3]

With edgemode on, if you run your finger along the touchpad and come to an edge, the touchpad will continue to send movement commands until you lift your finger. Setting edgemode to 0 disables it, to 1 enables it, and to 3 enables it only during a drag.

-m

Display which buttons corner taps simulate.

--middle-button, --right-button

Make corner taps simulate the middle or right button, respectively.

-r[0,1], --rate=[0,1]

Enable low (40 packets/second) reporting rate with a 0, or high (80 packets/second) reporting rate with a 1.

-t[0-3], --tapmode=[0-3]

Tapmode allows taps to be interpreted as left button presses and drags. Setting tapmode to 0 disables it, to 1 enables tap-to-click only, to 2 enables tap and non-locking drag, and to 3 enables tap and locking drag.

Dragging is accomplished by a down-up-down-drag movement (also called a tap-and-a-half). With locking drag, you must tap again to release the drag, and with non-locking drag, you raise your finger.

-z

Display the tap sensitivity.

--zthreshold=[0-7], --threshold=[0-7]

Set the tap sensitivity. 0 is the most sensitive.

--help

Display help and exit.

--version

Display version information and exit.

BUGS

tpconfig will not work if X or gpm are running.
