NAME

mtx - control tape autochanger mtx-changer - wrapper for use with the Amanda backup system

SYNOPSIS

mtx [ -f <tape-device> ] <command> [ <command args> ]
mtx-changer <command> [ <command args> ]

DESCRIPTION

This manual page documents briefly the mtx command. This manual page was written for the Debian GNU/Linux distribution (but may be used by others), because the original program did not have a manual page.

mtx is a program that controls the tape manipulator in a tape autochanger, such as the HP SureStore 12000e. With mtx, it is possible to load and unload tapes, and perform other operations on the autochanger.

The mtx-changer wrapper script implements the commands required by the Amanda backup system. More information on Amanda is available from http://ftp.cs.umd.edu/projects/amanda/amanda.html

SEE ALSO

The program is documented fully by mtx.doc, which can be found in the directory /usr/doc/mtx.
