# zip\_error(5)

error information

## NAME

**zip\_error** – error information

## LIBRARY

libzip (-lzip)

## SYNOPSIS

**#include \<zip.h\>**

*zip\_error\_t* *error*;

## DESCRIPTION

A **zip\_error** represents information about an error. It is usually allocated directly on the stack or as member of another structure, not via a pointer.

It is initialized with [zip\_error\_init(3)](/zip_error_init/3.md) or [zip\_error\_init\_with\_code(3)](/zip_error_init_with_code/3.md).

The type of error can be accessed with [zip\_error\_code\_zip(3)](/zip_error_code_zip/3.md) and [zip\_error\_code\_system(3)](/zip_error_code_system/3.md). It can be converted to a human readable string with [zip\_error\_strerror(3)](/zip_error_strerror/3.md).

After use, it should be cleaned up with [zip\_error\_fini(3)](/zip_error_fini/3.md).
