# xfig-www-browser(1)

display a HTML page using a web browser under X11

## NAME

xfig-www-browser - display a HTML page using a web browser under X11

## SYNOPSIS

**xfig-www-browser** *file.html*

## DESCRIPTION

**xfig-www-browser** is a little shell script, which tries to find out which web browsers you have installed on your system and then starts them. **xfig-www-browser** tries the following browsers with descending priority:

- \-

  [**mozilla**(1)](/mozilla/1.md)

- \-

  [**galeon**(1)](/galeon/1.md)

- \-

  **netscape**

- \-

  [**konqueror**(1)](/konqueror/1.md)

- \-

  **skipstone**

- \-

  [**dillo**(1x)](/dillo/1x.md)

- \-

  **chimera**(1x)

- \-

  **kdehelp**

- \-

  [**gzilla**(1)](/gzilla/1.md)

- \-

  [**arena**(1)](/arena/1.md)

- \-

  [**gnome-help-browser**(1)](/gnome-help-browser/1.md)

- \-

  [**chimera2**(1x)](/chimera2/1x.md)

- \-

  [**amaya**(1)](/amaya/1.md)

- \-

  [**links**(1)](/links/1.md)

- \-

  [**w3m**(1)](/w3m/1.md)

- \-

  [**lynx**(1)](/lynx/1.md)

If the environment variable **BROWSER** is set, this is used with highest priority. If your browser needs the string **file:** or something like this in front of the file name, you can define this in the environment variable **FILEPREFIX** like \`\`**FILEPREFIX=file:**''.

If a ASCII browser ([**links**(1)](/links/1.md), [**lynx**(1)](/lynx/1.md), [**w3m**(1)](/w3m/1.md), **mmm**) is chosen, this browser is started in an **x-terminal-emulator**(1), [**kterm**(1x)](/kterm/1x.md) or [**hanterm**(1x)](/hanterm/1x.md) depending on your **LANG** environment variable setting, where \`ja\*' implies [**kterm**(1x)](/kterm/1x.md), \`ko\*' implies [**hanterm**(1x)](/hanterm/1x.md) and all other settings imply **x-terminal-emulator**(1).

## ENVIRONMENT

- BROWSER

you can define your favorite browser with this variable, it overrides the priority of the above mentioned browsers.

- FILEPREFIX

you can define that your browser needs something like \`\`*file:*'' as a prefix of the filename.

- LANG

This variable decides what X11 terminal emulator should be used.
