# xamixer2(1)

Graphical control program for the ALSA mixer device

## NAME

XAMIXER - Graphical control program for the ALSA mixer device

## SYNOPSIS

**XAMIXER** *\[standard GTK+ options\]*

## DESCRIPTION

This manual page documents briefly the **XAMIXER** command. This manual page was written for the Debian GNU/Linux distribution because the original program does not have a manual page.

xamixer is a simple graphical mixer program for ALSA. While it is not the prettiest mixer out there, it has the advantage of being quite a lot easier to understand than the command-line **[amixer(1)](/amixer/1.md)** utility.

The only thing about the interface that does not strike me as being entirely self-explanatory is the function of the checkboxes. These are mute/unmute buttons. If you are not hearing any sound, make sure that they are "pushed in". The ALSA mixer is muted by default, so you will probably have to do this at least once. **XAMIXER**
