# virtio\_scsi(4)

VirtIO SCSI driver

## NAME

**virtio\_scsi** – VirtIO SCSI driver

## SYNOPSIS

**device** **virtio\_scsi**

In [loader.conf(5)](/loader.conf/5.md): **hw.vtscsi.bus\_reset\_disable** **virtio\_scsi\_load="YES"**

In [loader.conf(5)](/loader.conf/5.md) or [sysctl.conf(5)](/sysctl.conf/5.md): **hw.vtscsi.%d.debug\_level**

## HARDWARE

The **virtio\_scsi** device driver provides support for VirtIO SCSI devices.

## LOADER TUNABLES

Tunables can be set at the [loader(8)](/loader/8.md) prompt before booting the kernel or stored in [loader.conf(5)](/loader.conf/5.md).

- *hw.vtscsi.bus\_reset\_disable*

In the initial QEMU release with VirtIO SCSI support, in-flight operations were not aborted when stopping the device, rendering bus reset ineffective. This tunable disables attempts to issue reset bus commands. The default value is 1.

## SYSCTL VARIABLES

The following variables can be entered at the [loader(8)](/loader/8.md) prompt, set in [loader.conf(5)](/loader.conf/5.md), [sysctl.conf(5)](/sysctl.conf/5.md), or changed at runtime with [sysctl(8)](/sysctl/8.md):

- *hw.vtscsi.%d.debug\_level*

Enable debugging prints. The following bits have the described effects:

  - 0x01

    Enable informational prints.

  - 0x02

    Enable prints for driver errors.

  - 0x04

    Enable tracing prints.
