# tag2tab(1)

Convert a tab seperated file into a tag file

## NAME

tag2tab - Convert a tab seperated file into a tag file

## SYNOPSIS

**tag2tab** **\[-t fieldname...\]** **\[-D\]** **\[-h\]**

## DESCRIPTION

tag2tab takes a tag format file on standard input, and outputs those fields specified on the command line, separated by tab characters.

## OPTIONS

- **-h**

Disables normal header processing. If this is not present then the first record is assumed to be a header, and will not be output to the tabbed file.

- **-m**

Mime flag - output the names of the fields from the command line as the first line of the output file. This produces a file in the format of the Mime text/tab-separated-values file type.

- **-t fieldname...**

Specifies the names of the fields from the tagged file which are to be output.

- **-D**

Take the list of fields from the descriptor for the tag file. Note that this conflicts with -h as the tag file must have a header in order to locate the descriptor file.

Either **-t fieldname...** or **-D** must be specified to obtain interesting output.
