# stripumap(1)

make a umap file which matches the available font.

## NAME

stripumap - make a umap file which matches the available font.

## SYNOPSIS

**stripumap** *input-encoding X11-font* \[ *new-encoding* \]

## DESCRIPTION

**stripumap** is a program that processes an X11 font and creates a umap file for **yudit** that contains mappings only where a valid font cell exists. What makes this program necessary is the fact the come fonts claim to conform with certain encoding, but some font cells are actually empty.

The program does not display any window, but it needs X11 running in order to query the X11 font.

The resulting umap file is sent to the standard output of the program, please redirect it to the desired umap file. Only ascii umap files can be created with the program.

**Stripumap** is absolete beaceuse yudit does the stripping real-time since release 0.98.

## ARGUMENTS

**input-encoding** If you received this program through the yudit distribution, then as of today you can use the encodings that are avaliable for **uniconv** expect for UCS2LE and UCS2BE (obviously).

- **X11-font**

Pass here the X11 font name. To see available fonts use the **xlsfonts** command.

- **new-encoding**

is the name if the new map. This name is stored internally in the resulting umap file.

- The environment variable

**YUDITDATA** can point to a directory where umap-files (unicode map files) can be found. The default is determined at compilation time.
