# stripcom(1)

measures the size of C source files. mccabe - estimates function complexity. halstead - estimates module complexity. kdsi - counts LOC (lines of code) in a C program. ccount - counts LOC in compliance with SPR counting rules. lc - counts LOC and comments in a C program.

## NAME

metrics is a collection of programs that gather various static metrics from C source code, primarily to measure size and complexity.

**csize** - measures the size of C source files.\
 **mccabe** - estimates function complexity.\
 **halstead** - estimates module complexity.\
**kdsi** - counts LOC (lines of code) in a C program.\
**ccount** - counts LOC in compliance with SPR counting rules.\
**lc** - counts LOC and comments in a C program.\

## SYNOPSIS

**csize** \[ *-ehv*\] files...\
 **mccabe** files...\
 **halstead** files...\
 **kdsi** files...\
 **ccount** files...\
 **lc** \[ *-{* \| *-}* \] \[ *-number*\] files...\

## DESCRIPTION

All programs above are documented in their prospective manpages.

The remaining of this manpage pertains only to the supportive utilities. Probably, these utilities will prove of lesser interest to the users and are documented here only for completeness.

All utilities take input from stdin, and write to stdout. **stripcom** strips comments from a pascal, yacc, c, lex, shell, assembly, awk, vmenu, cobol, Makefile, or header file; **stripstr**, removes strings from input - where a string is anything between (and including) two quotes (") ; and **c\_halsfilt**, is called from hedstead(1) to parses a file.

## OPTIONS

None of the utility programs accept any options. Moreover, as mentioned earlier, they merely read from stdin and write to stdout.

## BUGS

stripstr does not filter out one-line comments when marked with the '//' sequence.
