RRLOGIND(8) RRLOGIND(8)

NNAAMMEE\
rrlogind - Road Runner Login Daemon. A suitable replace-\
        ment for it's Perl counterpart.

SSYYNNOOPPSSIISS\
        rrrrllooggiinndd \[\[--pp \<\<ppoorrtt\>\>\]\] \[\[--vv\]\] \[\[--kk\]\] \[\[--dd\]\] \[\[--tt\]\]

DDEESSCCRRIIPPTTIIOONN\
rrrrllooggiinndd is for use in those areas that are using the\
"Road Runner Client Server Session Management Protocol".\
These areas include, but are not limited to: North Eastern\
Ohio, Columbus Ohio, Austin Texas, Hawaii, Tampa Bay Fla,\
        and Charlotte NC.

This daemon is designed to replace the \_r\_r\_l\_o\_g\_i\_n Perl\
script. It implements the entire \_S\_e\_s\_s\_i\_o\_n \_M\_a\_n\_a\_g\_e\_r \_P\_r\_o\_t\_o\_c\_o\_l\_,\
instead of just the login portion.

OOPPTTIIOONNSS\
        \_-\_p \_\<\_p\_o\_r\_t\_\> Used to change the default (60000) port\
number to communicate with for the\
                       login server.

       \_-\_v Turns on verbose mode.

       \_-\_d Turns on debugging mode.

\_-\_k Kills any running instance of rrrrllooggiinndd or\
                       removes the stale pid file.

\_-\_t Always trust the server to be authentic.

CCHHAANNGGEESS\
        \_v\_1\_.\_0 - Initial Release 11/30/1998\
A very buggy alpha version of the client

\_v\_1\_.\_1 - Major Bug Fix and 1st Official Release 12/03/1998\
               Fixed keep-alive support.\
               Finished implementing the protocol specs.

       \_v\_1\_.\_2 - Bug Fixes 12/14/1998, Feature Additions\
Fixed a small bug in the client state loop.\
Changed all the syslog messages to report as\
LOG\_INFO (Now only logs to messages instead of\
all error conditions being sent to syslog.)\
Altered listener code to also work under 2.1.x\
                  kernels.\
Added "Always Trust" parameter to compensate for\
                  some non-spec-compliant auth servers.\
               Added broken-session detection code.

       \_v\_1\_.\_3 - Bug Fixes 01/17/1999, Feature Additions\
Fixed segmentation fault when username was not\

Road Runner Login Daemon MARCH 1999 1

RRLOGIND(8) RRLOGIND(8)

Fixed segmentation fault caused by a null session\
                  server list.\
Moved call to open syslog prior to the first use\
                  of syslog.\
Fixed rrooaaddrruunnnneerr..hh for other flavors of \_U\_N\_I\_X\_.\
               Improved signal handling.\
rrlogind now deals with hostnames that have\
                  multiple IPs\
Added automatic detection of OS and OS version.

       \_v\_2\_.\_0 - Feature Additions/Modifications 01/27/1999\
Added an \_a\_u\_t\_o\_b\_u\_i\_l\_d script that will attempt to do\
                  everything for you.\
Removed username, password, and login server from\
the command line and added a configuration file.\
Included Makefiles for those using RISC based\
systems. Using \_a\_u\_t\_o\_b\_u\_i\_l\_d will automatically use\
                  the new Makefiles.\
Password is no longer stored in plain text, but\
                  rather an irreversible MD5 hash.

       \_v\_2\_.\_1 - Official Release of the 2.x series 02/26/1999\
               Fixed a small memory leak.\
Fixed a problem with the RISC Makefile.

       \_v\_2\_.\_2 - Bug Fixes, updated rrdhcpcd 04/16/1999\
Fixed small bug in logout logic.\
Fixed a bug in rrdhcpcd 2 which caused an incorrect \
assignment of the subnet mask when obtaining a \
                24\.x.x.x IP.

       \_v\_2\_.\_2\_1 - Bug Fixes, updated rrdhcpcd\
Fixes small bug in the logout logic.\
Added "clean" option to the autobuild script.\
Fixed rrdhcpcd to work with Red Hat 5.9

FFIILLEESS\
        \_r\_r\_c\_o\_n\_f\
Creates a file in \_/\_e\_t\_c\_/\_r\_o\_a\_d\_r\_u\_n\_n\_e\_r to store your\
username, password, login server in MD5 hash\
             (irreversible).
