# rpc.bwnfsd(8)

RPC daemon for BWNFS

## NAME

rpc.bwnfsd - RPC daemon for BWNFS

## SYNOPSIS

**rpc.bwnfsd** \[*-A*\] \[*-d*\] \[*-s file*\] *spool\_directory*

## DESCRIPTION

This manual page documents briefly the **rpc.bwnfsd**, command. This manual page was written for the Debian GNU/Linux distribution because the original program does not have a manual page. Instead, it has documentation in the GNU Info format; see below.

**rpc.bwnfsd** is an **RPC** daemon used in conjunction with **BWNFS** (a client **NFS** for **DOS** based PC's). **rpc.bwnfsd** provides authentication, print spooling, **DOS 3.1** locking, **DOS 3.1** sharing, **GID** name mapping, **UID** name mapping services for **BWNFS** and associated applications on the PC. **rpc.bwnfsd** is being used also by **Macintosh NFS** clients.

The *spool\_directory* must be specified for **rpc.bwnfsd** to work. It is typically /var/spool/bwnfs.

## OPTIONS

- **-A**

  Turn on authentication.

- **-d**

  Turn on debugging.

- **-s file**

  **file** lists rules for which hosts can be authenticated. Each line is converted to a **IP** address and mask. Any incoming address is ANDed with the mask and compared to **IP** address, if it matches, the action associated with the line is taken.

  Valid actions:

  ```
  +		Perform validation check
  -		Return authorisation error
  =		Tell client to attempt authorisation at new address
  ```
