# resource\_monitor\_histograms(1)

create HTML pages and graphs of resource monitor data

## NAME

**resource\_monitor\_histograms** - create HTML pages and graphs of resource monitor data

## SYNOPSIS

FC**resource\_monitor\_histograms \[options\] -L monitor\_data\_file\_list output\_directory \[workflow\_name\]**FT FC**resource\_monitor\_histograms \[options\] output\_directory \< monitor\_data\_file\_list  \[workflow\_name\]**FT

## DESCRIPTION

**resource\_monitor\_histograms** is a tool to visualize resource usage as reported by **resource\_monitor**. **resource\_monitor\_histograms** expects a file listing the paths of summary files (-L option or from standard input). Results are written to **output\_directory** in the form of several webpages showing histograms and statistics per resource.

## ARGUMENTS

### Input Options

- **-L** *\<monitor\_data\_file\_list\>*

  File with one summary file path per line.

### Output Options

- *output\_directory* **\<\>**

  The path in which to store the visualizations. See index.html for the root of the visualization.

- **workflow\_name**

  Optional name to include to describe the workflow being visualized.

- **-f** *\<str\>*

  Select which fields for the histograms. Default is "cores,memory,disk". Available fields are:

  ```
  ```

-

  bandwidth bytes\_read bytes\_received bytes\_send bytes\_written cores cpu\_time disk max\_concurrent\_processes memory swap\_memory total\_files total\_processes virtual\_memory wall\_time

### Debugging Options

- **-d**, **--debug**=*\<subsystem\>*

  Enable debugging for this subsystem.

- **-o**, **--debug-file**=*\<file\>*

  Write debugging output to this file. By default, debugging is sent to stderr (":stderr"). You may specify logs to be sent to stdout (":stdout") instead.

- **--verbose**

  Display runtime progress on stdout.

## EXAMPLES

Most common usage:

```
```

-

  % find my\_summary\_files\_directory -name "\*.summary" \> summary\_list % resource\_monitor\_histograms -L summary\_list my\_histograms my\_workflow\_name % # open my\_histograms/index.html

Splitting on categories, generating only resident memory related histograms:

```
```

-

  % resource\_monitor\_histograms -f memory -L summary\_list my\_histograms my\_workflow\_name % # open my\_histograms/index.html
