# relay-ctrl-allow(8)

selectively enable smtp relaying

## NAME

relay-ctrl-allow - selectively enable smtp relaying

## SYNOPSIS

**relay-ctrl-allow** *command* \[ *arguments ...* \]

## DESCRIPTION

**relay-ctrl-allow** executes **relay-ctrl-age** in the background to add a record of the client's IP to the table used by **tcpserver** to control relaying. It then drops all setuid priviledges and executes the command named on the command line.

## OPTIONS

- **command**

This argument is executed after the IP address has been added to the spool of addresses.

## RETURN VALUES

Returns 111 (temporary failure) if any operation fails; otherwise the exit value is that of the executed program.

## ENVIRONMENT

- **TCPREMOTEIP**

**relay-ctrl-allow** expects that this environment variable is set to the numerical IP address of the remote host.

## SEE ALSO

[relay-ctrl-age(8)](/relay-ctrl-age/8.md), [qmail-pop3d(8)](/qmail-pop3d/8.md), [qmail-popup(8)](/qmail-popup/8.md), [tcpserver(1)](/tcpserver/1.md), [tcp-environ(5)](/tcp-environ/5.md)

## WARNINGS

**relay-ctrl-allow** will normally need to be installed setuid to whatever user owns the SMTP rules CDB used by **tcpserver** and the relay client rules directory (frequently root), as it will be executed without permissions to modify either.
