# python-stubber(1)

generate ILU stubs for the Python programming language

## NAME

python-stubber - generate ILU stubs for the Python programming language

## SYNOPSIS

**python-stubber** \[**-removefirst**\] \[**-dir** \[**-quiet**\] *DIRECTORY*\] *ISLFILE* \[ *...ISLFILES* \]

## DESCRIPTION

**python-stubber** Generates Python code for the interface defined in *ISLFILE*, which should be a file containing an ISL specification of the interface. If no directory is specified as part of *ISLFILE*, the stubber will search for the file in the list of directories specified by the environment variable `ILUPATH`. If no file extension is specified for *ISLFILE*, the extension "`.isl`" is assumed.

If the **-removefirst** switch is specified, the stubber will attempt to delete old versions of the stub files before creating new ones, rather than overwriting the contents of the old files, which is the default behavior.

If the interface being stubbed is called `foo`, two output files will be created, "`foo.py`", and "`foo__skel.py`".

If the **-dir** switch is specified, the stubber will attempt to create the output files in the directory specified by *DIRECTORY*.

If the **-quiet** switch is specified, the stubber won't put out the customary messages about which files which parts of the stubs are being put in.

## EXAMPLES

`57 % python-stubber foo.isl`\
 `python-stubber foo.isl`\
`client stubs for interface "foo" to foo.py ...`\
`server stubs for interface "foo" to foo__skel.py ...`\
 `58 %`

## ENVIRONMENT VARIABLES

The environment variable "ILUPATH" is consulted to find referenced interfaces. It should consist of a sequence of colon-separated directories, which contain interface specifications in the form of files with names like *\<interface-name\>*`.isl`.
