# ptkfinger(1)

Perl/Tk Finger Client for X

## NAME

ptkfinger - Perl/Tk Finger Client for X

## SYNOPSIS

**ptkfinger** \[*address*\]

## DESCRIPTION

*ptkfinger* is a finger (TCP port 79) client for X, written in Perl/Tk.

Finger is usually used to provide information about a user at a certain host, but it is also sometimes used to provide a source of other information.

As well as simple finger ability, it also provides an option for long finger output.

### OPTIONS

- **address**

The address to finger (*user* for local users, or *user@host*).

## REQUIREMENTS

ptkfinger requires a fairly up-to-date version of Perl (version 5.002 or better). It also (obviously) requires Perl/Tk. Perl/Tk is available in the Nick-Ing Simmons author directory at CPAN. It is also available as a Debian package.

## AUTHOR and BUG REPORTING

ptkfinger was written by Alan Ford \<alan@whirlnet.co.uk\> Please report bugs to that address.

## KNOWN BUGS

There have been reports of slightly dodgy output, but I have been unable to replicate the symptoms myself.
