X print manager with drag and drop capabilities

## NAME

printer - X print manager with drag and drop capabilities

## SYNOPSIS

**printer**

## DESCRIPTION

*Printer* is a print manager program for the X window system. It is intended to give non-expert users an intuitive feeling of the printing system. *Printer* was built around the BSD printing system and uses *DnD* (the Drag and Drop protocol by Cesar Crusius) to interact with an expanding set of tools. When used together with *magicfilter* it gives the users the possibility to print their files without caring about that whole pipeline of filters. *Printer* can activate a job when a file or raw data is dropped on it and provides easy access to multiple printers in a network or at home. The printer status is updated at regular intervals giving instant feedback to the user. Also, using *printer* a job can be remove from the printer queue with two mouse clicks.

The aim of *printer* is to be able to work together with *DnD* (the Drag and Drop protocol by Cesar Crusius) in the context of *OffiX*. *OffiX* is an expandable environment built around *DnD* and aimed to give novice and expert users a comfortable and common desktop.
