# printconf(1)

automatically configure attached USB and parallel printers

## NAME

printconf - automatically configure attached USB and parallel printers

## SYNOPSIS

**printconf \[--dry-run\] \[--verbose\]**

## DESCRIPTION

This manual page briefly documents the **printconf** command.

**printconf** automatically detects and optionally configures printers attached to Linux-based systems using the Foomatic printing system.

## OPTIONS

- **-n, --dry-run, --no-action**

Detect printers, but don't actually configure them. This option is useful for testing purposes.

- **-v, --verbose**

Show additional progress information, including notification of devices for which no autodetection data was found.

## NOTES

Autodetection of parallel printers may require your computer's parallel port to be in "bidirectional," "EPP," or "ECP/EPP" mode; this is a setting in your computer's BIOS.
