pilotconfig(1)

pilotconfig1

Setup the /dev/pilot symbolic link

Usage

pilotconfig [--no-ask]

Overview

This man page documents the simple pilotconfig shellscript. It is used during the configure phase of pilot-link's postinst script to query and set the /dev/pilot symlink that the various programs in the package use.

A user invoking this will just type pilotconfig. It will ask what serial port /dev/pilot should be symlinked to. If a user already has the symlink, the current readlink(2) value is used if it looks valid. All the serial cards with drivers in Linux 2.0.36 are considered valid. If the user doesn't have the symlink, /dev/ttyS1 is used as a default.

--no-ask

pilot-link's postinst script calls pilotconfig with --no-ask so as to not pester the user during install if the symlink already exists. Presumably, if the user is calling this script interactively, they want to be questioned and therefore shouldn't need this option.
