# pdb\_LoadHeader(3)

read the header of a Palm database file

## NAME

**pdb\_LoadHeader** – read the header of a Palm database file

## LIBRARY

*libpdb*

## SYNOPSIS

**#include \<pdb.h\>**

*int*\

**pdb\_LoadHeader**(*int fd*, *struct pdb \*db*);

## DESCRIPTION

**pdb\_LoadHeader** reads the header of a Palm PDB or PRC file from the file descriptor *fd*, which must already have been opened for reading. *fd* must be seekable. **pdb\_LoadHeader** fills in the *struct* *pdb* pointed to by *db*, which must already have been allocated.

It is not possible to append the rest of the file's data to *db*. If you want to read the rest of the file, you need to read it from scratch with **pdb\_Read**().

**pdb\_LoadHeader** is deprecated. The only recommended use for it is to get an overview of a set of PDB or PRC files.

## RETURN VALUE

**pdb\_LoadHeader** returns 0 if successful, or a negative value otherwise.
