NAME
pcscd - PCSC Lite resource manager daemon
SYNTAX
pcscd [-v]
DESCRIPTION
The PCSC daemon is used to dynamically allocate/deallocate smartcard reader drivers at runtime and manage conections to the readers.
At least one reader driver must be available for PCSC daemon to operate. See http://www.linuxnet.com for a list of available reader drivers.
Serial port connected drivers must be declared in the config file /etc/reader.conf, and pcscd must be restarted to recognize a new reader.
The format of the file /etc/reader.conf is as follows:
-
FRIENDLYNAME <Descriptive name>
DEVICENAME <Short name>
LIBPATH <Location of the driver library>
CHANNELID <Hexadecimal channel identificator>
Channel identificator meaning is dependant on the reader driver. However most serial readers follow this convention:
-
0x0103F8 - /dev/ttyS0 (COM1)
0x0102F8 - /dev/ttyS1 (COM2)
0x0103E8 - /dev/ttyS2 (COM3)
0x0102E8 - /dev/ttyS3 (COM4)
USB readers must be installed under /usr/lib/pcsc/drivers. There is no need to edit the file /etc/reader.conf for USB readers.
