# pbm2ppa(1)

Prints a pbm- or pbmraw-format \<infile\> to HP720/820/1000-format \<outfile\>..

## NAME

pbm2ppa - Prints a pbm- or pbmraw-format \<infile\> to HP720/820/1000-format \<outfile\>..

## SYNOPSIS

**pbm2ppa** *\[options\] \[\<infile\> \[\<outfile\>\]\]*

## DESCRIPTION

This manual page documents briefly the **pbm2ppa** command. This manual page was written for the Debian GNU/Linux distribution because the original program does not have a manual page.

**pbm2ppa** is a program that permits printing in B&W on some GDI printers that use PPA (printer performance architecture) protocol like HP DeskJet 720, 820 or 1000 series.

The preffered way to use the filter is through magicfilter. Please select **pbm2ppa** filter when you configure magicfilter.

## OPTIONS

A summary of options are included below.

The -x and -y options accumulate. The -v option resets the horizontal and vertical adjustments to an internal default. \<infile\> and \<outfile\> default to stdin and stdout. '-' is a synonym for stdin and stdout.

The file /etc/pbm2ppa.conf, if it exists, is processed as a configuration file before any command-line parameters are processed.

- **-h**

  Show summary of options.

- **-v \<version\>**

Resets the horizontal and vertical adjustments to an internal default. Printer version can be 720, 820, or 1000.

- **-x \<xoff\>**

  vertical offset adjustment in 1"/600

- **-y \<yoff\>**

  horizontal offset adjustment in 1"/600

- **-t \<top\>**

  top margin in 1"/600

- **-l \<left\>**

  left margin in 1"/600

- **-r \<right\>**

  right margin in 1"/600

- **-b \<bottom\>**

  bottom margin in 1"/600

- **-D**

  Select draft printing.

- **-s \<paper\>**

Select paper size (us, letter, a4, default: us). "letter" paper size is identical with "us" size. It was added for **paperconf** compatibility reasons.

- **-f \<cfgfile\>**

Read \<cfgfile\> as parameters. Configuration files have the following format:

    \# Comment\
     \<key1\> \<value1\>\
     \<key2\> \<value2\>\
     \[etc.\]

Valid keys are 'version', 'xoffset', 'yoffset', 'topmargin', 'leftmargin', version of these words. Valid values are the same as with the corresponding command-line parameters. Parameters in the configuration file act as though the corresponding parameters were substituted, in order, for the '-f' parameter which specified the file.
