npslpr(1)

prepare a PostScript file for printing

NAME

npslpr - prepare a PostScript file for printing

SYNOPSIS

npslpr [ --version ] [ --lpr ] [ --lp ] [ -Iresourcepath ] [ -p filename ] [ -LRfGaz ] [ -ipagerange ] [ -Sfeature[=value] ] [ spooler-options ] [ file ... ]

DESCRIPTION

npslpr is a front-end to psplpr(1) accepting the same options as the original pslpr(1) command.

The actual behaviour of npslpr is actually slightly different from what one would get using pslpr(1) in that some options are not yet implemented or because psplpr(1) does not support some of the mechanisms needed for making the options work.

OPTIONS

--version

Print a version string on standard output and exit.

--lpr

Use the lpr(1) system printer spooler. Also get the default printer from the PRINTER environment variable.

--lp

Use the lp(1) system printer spooler. Also get the default printer from the LPDEST environment variable.

-Iresourcepath

(Unsupported.) Specify the path for a printer resource. This path will be used to locate a resource that is not available in the printer, as defined in the printer's PostScript Printer Description (PPD) file, in order to download that resource to the printer.

-p filename

Act as a filter, printing on the given file (or the standard output if filename is -) instead of piping the document to the system printer spooler.

-L

(Unsupported.) Print the document in landscape format.

-R

Reverse the page order.

-f

Ignore errors and proceed instead of stopping.

-G

(Useless.) Do not try to rearrange fonts in order to minimize transmission time.

-a

Strip all comments (lines begining with `%') from the document. This option should not be used if later processing of the document is expected.

-z

(Unsupported.) Perform LZW compression and ASCII85 encoding of the document, if the printer supports it (which means only for Level 2 printers).

ENVIRONMENT

PRINTER

Printer name for lpr(1). If not set, defaults to PostScript.

LPDEST

Printer name for lp(1). If not set, defaults to PostScript.
