## SYNOPSIS

**mtx** *\[ -f \<tape-device\> \] \<command\> \[ \<command args\> \]*\
 **mtx-changer** *\<command\> \[ \<command args\> \]*\

## DESCRIPTION

This manual page documents briefly the **mtx** command. This manual page was written for the Debian GNU/Linux distribution (but may be used by others), because the original program did not have a manual page.

**mtx** is a program that controls the tape manipulator in a tape autochanger,  such as the HP SureStore 12000e.  With  **mtx,** it is possible to load and unload tapes, and perform other operations on the autochanger.

The **mtx-changer** wrapper script implements the commands required by the Amanda backup system. More information on Amanda is available from  http://ftp.cs.umd.edu/projects/amanda/amanda.html
