MandelSpawn computation server

NAME

mslaved - MandelSpawn computation server

SYNOPSIS

mslaved [ -t timeout ] [ -n niceval ]

DESCRIPTION

mslaved is the computation server daemon for MandelSpawn (see xms (1) and bms(1)). It accepts requests for calculating rectangles of pixels on its standard input, which should be a datagram socket. Normally mslaved is started on demand by inetd(8C); it may also be started manually using mslavedc(8), as in

mslavedc ./mslaved

To spawn mslaved processes on multiple machines, use enslave(1).

Note that mslaved can not be started directly from the shell without using mslavedc or enslave.

The -n option specifies a nice value; if no -n option is present, nice 10 will be used. Use -n0 for no nice. The -t option specifies a timeout: mslaved will exit if no calculation requests are received within the given number of seconds. The default timeout is 60 seconds, -t0 means never time out.
