  **collection**: A *mongoc\_collection\_t*.

  **new\_db**: The name of the new database.

  **new\_name**: The new name for the collection.

  **drop\_target\_before\_rename**: If an existing collection matches the new name, drop it before the rename.

  **error**: An optional location for a *bson\_error\_t* or **NULL**.
