**mongoc\_client\_encryption\_t** provides utility functions for *In-Use Encryption*.

## THREAD SAFETY

*mongoc\_client\_encryption\_t* is NOT thread-safe and should only be used in the same thread as the *mongoc\_client\_t* that is configured via *mongoc\_client\_encryption\_opts\_set\_keyvault\_client()*.

## LIFECYCLE

The key vault client, configured via *mongoc\_client\_encryption\_opts\_set\_keyvault\_client()*, must outlive the *mongoc\_client\_encryption\_t*.
