libmemcached Documentation

## NAME

memcached\_strerror - libmemcached Documentation

## SYNOPSIS

- **#include \<libmemcached/memcached.h\>**

  Compile and link with -lmemcached

- **const char \*memcached\_strerror(memcached\_st \<#\_CPPv412memcached\_st\> \*ptr, memcached\_return\_t \<#\_CPPv418memcached\_return\_t\> rc)**

  - **Parameters**

    - •

**ptr** -- pointer to initialized **memcached\_st** \<#\_CPPv412memcached\_st\> struct

    - •

**rc** -- **memcached\_return\_t** \<#\_CPPv418memcached\_return\_t\> value to query the string representation for

  - **Returns**

    the string representation of **rc**

## DESCRIPTION

**memcached\_strerror()** takes a **memcached\_return\_t** \<#\_CPPv418memcached\_return\_t\> value and returns a string describing the error.

This string must not be modified by the application.

**memcached\_return\_t** \<#\_CPPv418memcached\_return\_t\> values are returned from nearly all [libmemcached(3)](/libmemcached/3.md) functions.

**memcached\_return\_t** \<#\_CPPv418memcached\_return\_t\> values are of an enum type so that you can set up responses with switch/case and know that you are capturing all possible return values.

## RETURN VALUE

**memcached\_strerror()** returns a string describing a **memcached\_return\_t** \<#\_CPPv418memcached\_return\_t\> value.
