# mccabe(1)

program that estimates function complexity.

## NAME

mccabe - program that estimates function complexity.

## SYNOPSIS

**mccabe** *\[-n\] files ...*\

## DESCRIPTION

**mccabe** determines function complexity based on the McCabe model of program complexity. McCabe produces the following output: File Name, Function Name	(or \*\*\* for complexity not in a function, as in yacc), Complexity, and Count of return statements

A complexity score higher than 13 means, typically means that you should aim for simpler code. The number of returns in a function, however, is probably more important than complexity when predicting faults.

## OPTIONS

The program follows the short-options syntax starting with one dashe (\`-'). A summary of options are included below.

- **-n**

Is useful if you are using this to produce data for other tools.
