cern-httpd(8)

cern-httpd8

Http server daemon (aka www server)

Usage

cern-httpd [options]

Overview

This manual page documents briefly the cern-httpd command. This manual page was written for the Debian GNU/Linux distribution (but may be used by others), because the original program does not have a manual page. Instead, it has documentation in HTML format; see below.

cern-httpd is a world-wide-web server daemon. It listens for requests on a TCP/IP port (typically 80) and returns files and other information in response.

Options

A summary of options are included below. For a complete description, see the documentation files.

-r rulefile

Use rulefile as the configuration files, instead of the default /etc/cern-httpd.conf

-p port

Listen for request on port number port. Without this argument (and without a port specified in the configuration file) cern-httpd assumes it has been started by inetd, and listens on stdin.

-l logfile

Use logfile to log requests.

-restart

Send SIGHUP to an already running cern-httpd process to force it to re-read the configuration file. If the -r option was used on the original run, the same option must be used for this request also.

-gcc_only

Do only garbage collection (cache cleanup) and exit. Useful only when running cern-httpd as a proxy server.

-v

Verbose, turn on debugging messages.

-vv

Very verbose.

-version

Print version number of cern-httpd and the libwww.a used to build it.

Releases

3 releases since Debian 2.1 (Slink); the text changed 1 time.

  1. 2.1
  2. 2.2–3.0
