# kall(1)

kill processes by command name

## NAME

kall - kill processes by command name

## SYNOPSIS

**kall** \[-*signal*\] prog1 \[prog2...\]

## DESCRIPTION

**Kall** sends the specified *signal* (defaults to **-TERM**) to all processes whose command name is specified on the command line. For example:

```
	kall -HUP remind foobar
```

sends a **HUP** signal to all *remind* and *foobar* programs. Note that **kall** sends signals only to those processes owned by the user invoking **kall**.

## AUTHOR

David F. Skoll

## BUGS

**Kall** is a [sh(1)](/sh/1.md) script and depends on the behaviour of [ps(1)](/ps/1.md); thus, it is not especially portable.
