# iv\_time(3)

ivykis time handling

## NAME

iv\_now, iv\_validate\_now, iv\_invalidate\_now - ivykis time handling

## SYNOPSIS

**#include \<iv.h\>**

**extern struct timespec** *iv\_now***;**\
 **void iv\_validate\_now(void);**\
 **void iv\_invalidate\_now(void);**\

## DESCRIPTION

**iv\_now** is a global variable that represents a monotonic timer.

The contents of **iv\_now** might be stale. Calling the function **iv\_validate\_now** ensures that the current contents of **iv\_now** are up-to-date.

The function **iv\_invalidate\_now** is called to invalidate the currently cached time. This function should be called after any operation that takes a significant amount of wall clock time.
