# imapxfer(1)

copy mailboxes between IMAP servers

## NAME

imapxfer - copy mailboxes between IMAP servers

## SYNTAX

**imapxfer** *{source\_host}prefix {destination\_host}prefix*

## DESCRIPTION

*imapxfer* copies entire mailboxes from the named *source\_host* IMAP server to the named *destination\_host* IMAP server. Mailboxes are created on the *destination\_host* as needed. If a *prefix* is specified after the *source\_host* then only mailboxes which begin with that *prefix* are copied. If a *prefix* is specified after the *destination\_host* that *prefix* is pre-pended in front of the mailbox name on the destination.

The arguments are in standard c-client mailbox name format. See your system manager for more information about the types of mailboxes which are available on your system.

## RESTRICTIONS

You must surround a *{host}prefix* argument with quotation marks if you run *imapxfer* from [*csh*(1)](/csh/1.md) or another shell for which braces have special meaning.
