im\_partial - makes a PIO intermediate image

## SYNOPSIS

**#include \<vips/vips.h\>**

**IMAGE \*im\_partial(file\_name)**\
 **char \*file\_name;**

## DESCRIPTION

**[im\_partial(3)](/im_partial/3.md)** returns a descriptor which can be used to join PIO image processing operations together.

This function is obsolete --- you should call [im\_open(3)](/im_open/3.md) instead.

## RETURN VALUE

The function returns a valid image descriptor on success and NULL on error.
