im\_openout - sets an image descriptor corresponding to an output file

## SYNOPSIS

**#include \<vips/vips.h\>**

**IMAGE \*im\_openout(file\_name)**\
 **char \*file\_name;**

## DESCRIPTION

**[im\_openout(3)](/im_openout/3.md)** returns a descriptor which when written to will write pels to file\_name. This function has been replaced by [im\_open(3)](/im_open/3.md).

## RETURN VALUE

The function returns a valid image descriptor on success and NULL on error.
