# hypetombox(1)

convert a hypermail archive to an mbox file

## NAME

hypetombox - convert a hypermail archive to an mbox file

## SYNOPSIS

**hypetombox** \[**-a**\] \[**-R**\] \[**-H *headers***\] \[**-d *directory***\] \[**-m *outfile***\] \[**-n *address***\] \[**-S *suffix***\]

## DESCRIPTION

**hypetombox** converts a [**hypermail**(1)](/hypermail/1.md) archive back into a file in mbox format by scanning the current directory (or the one specified with **-d**) for hypermail-generated files and restoring the original rfc822 headers.

The following options may be used to control its behaviour:

- **-a**

do not truncate the output file if it already exists (i.e. append to it)

- **-R**

strip trailing carriage returns from each line (\\r, ascii 13)

- **-d** *directory*

read hypermail archive from *directory/* instead of the current location

- **-m** *outfile*

write to *outfile* instead of **./mbox**

- **-S** *suffix*

modify the input file pattern "**\[0-9\]{4}.***suffix*" (default value for *suffix* is **html**)

- **-n** *address*

  specify **To:**-address of generated mails

- **-H** *headers*

add additional header lines to each mail (these are copied verbatim; if you want to add more than one, separate them with the character string '**%0A**')
