# gss\_export\_name(3)

API function

## NAME

gss\_export\_name - API function

## SYNOPSIS

**#include \<gss.h\>**

**OM\_uint32 gss\_export\_name(OM\_uint32 \*** *minor\_status***, const gss\_name\_t** *input\_name***, gss\_buffer\_t** *exported\_name***);**

## ARGUMENTS

- OM\_uint32 \* minor\_status

(Integer, modify) Mechanism specific status code.

- const gss\_name\_t input\_name

(gss\_name\_t, read) The MN to be exported.

- gss\_buffer\_t exported\_name

  (gss\_buffer\_t, octet-string, modify) The canonical\
contiguous string form of *input\_name*. Storage associated with\
this string must freed by the application after use with\
     **gss\_release\_buffer()**.

## DESCRIPTION

To produce a canonical contiguous string representation of a mechanism name (MN), suitable for direct comparison (e.g. with memcmp) for use in authorization functions (e.g. matching entries in an access-control list). The *input\_name* parameter must specify a valid MN (i.e. an internal name generated by **gss\_accept\_sec\_context()** or by **gss\_canonicalize\_name()**).

## RETURN VALUE

\`GSS\_S\_COMPLETE\`: Successful completion.

\`GSS\_S\_NAME\_NOT\_MN\`: The provided internal name was not a mechanism name.

\`GSS\_S\_BAD\_NAME\`: The provided internal name was ill-formed.

\`GSS\_S\_BAD\_NAMETYPE\`: The internal name was of a type not supported by the GSS-API implementation.
