# genders\_errnum(3)

genders error routines

## NAME

genders\_errnum, genders\_strerror, genders\_errormsg, genders\_perror - genders error routines

## SYNOPSIS

**#include \<genders.h\>**

**int genders\_errnum(genders\_t handle);**

**char \*genders\_strerror(int errnum);**

**char \*genders\_errormsg(genders\_t handle);**

**void genders\_perror(genders\_t handle, const char \*msg);**\

## DESCRIPTION

**genders\_errnum()** returns the error code stored in *handle*.

**genders\_strerror()** returns a pointer to a string describing the error code *errnum*.

Generally, an error code is retrieved by **genders\_errnum()** and then passed to **genders\_strerror()**.

**genders\_errormsg()** returns a pointer to a string describing the error stored in *handle*. It is logically equivalent to:

char \*genders\_strerror(genders\_errnum(genders\_t handle));

**genders\_perror()** is similar to [**perror**(3)](/perror/3.md). It produces a message on standard error output, describing the error stored in *handle*. If *msg* is not NULL, the string pointed to by *msg*, a colon, and a blank are printed before the error message.\
