## DESCRIPTION

**new\_pdb** allocates and initializes a new, empty *struct* *pdb* structure.

**free\_pdb** frees the memory used by a *struct* *pdb* previously returned by **new\_pdb**, as well as any records, resources, AppInfo or sort blocks the database may contain.

## RETURN VALUE

**new\_pdb** returns a pointer to the newly-allocated *struct* *pdb,* or NULL in case of error.
