Create a bitmap file from a FITS image.

## NAME

fits2bitmap - Create a bitmap file from a FITS image.

## DESCRIPTION

usage: fits2bitmap \[-h\] \[-e hdu\] \[-o filename\] \[--scale SCALE\] \[--power POWER\]

-

  \[--asinh\_a ASINH\_A\] \[--min\_cut MIN\_CUT\] \[--max\_cut MAX\_CUT\] \[--min\_percent MIN\_PERCENT\] \[--max\_percent MAX\_PERCENT\] \[--percent PERCENT\] \[--cmap colormap\_name\] filename \[filename ...\]

### positional arguments:

- filename

Path to one or more FITS files to convert

### optional arguments:

- **-h**, **--help**

show this help message and exit

- **-e** hdu, **--ext** hdu

specify the HDU extension number or name

- **-o** filename

Filename for the output image (Default is a PNG file with the same name as the FITS file)

- **--scale** SCALE

Type of image scaling ("linear", "sqrt", "power", "log", or "asinh")

- **--power** POWER

  Power index for "power" scaling

- **--asinh\_a** ASINH\_A

The value in normalized image where the asinh curve transitions from linear to logarithmic behavior (used only for "asinh" scaling)

- **--min\_cut** MIN\_CUT

The pixel value of the minimum cut level

- **--max\_cut** MAX\_CUT

The pixel value of the maximum cut level

- **--min\_percent** MIN\_PERCENT

The percentile value used to determine the minimum cut level

- **--max\_percent** MAX\_PERCENT

The percentile value used to determine the maximum cut level

- **--percent** PERCENT

The percentage of the image values used to determine the pixel values of the minimum and maximum cut levels

- **--cmap** colormap\_name

  matplotlib color map name
