# firestring\_strncat(3)

strncat(3) with slightly saner semantics

## NAME

firestring\_strncat - [**strncat**(3)](/strncat/3.md) with slightly saner semantics

## SYNOPSIS

**#include \<firestring.h\>**\
 **-lfirestring**

**void firestring\_strncat(char \* const** *to***, const char \* const** *from***, const size\_t** *size***)**

## DESCRIPTION

firestring\_strncpy() acts like [**strncat**(3)](/strncat/3.md) except that *to* will always contain a trailing nil, even if the function runs out of space and the *size* argument is the maximum size of all of *to*, not just the amount of space remaining in it. In simpler terms, firestring\_strncat() appends the string *from* to *to*, where *to* is a buffer of *size* bytes.

## RETURN VALUE

Always succeeds.
