firecrackerconfig(1)

setup the /dev/firecracker symbolic link

NAME

firecrackerconfig - setup the /dev/firecracker symbolic link

SYNOPSIS

firecrackerconfig [ --no-ask ]

DESCRIPTION

This man page documents the simple firecrackerconfig shellscript. It is used during the configure phase of wmx10's postinst script to query and set the /dev/firecracker symlink that wmx10 uses.

A user invoking this will just type firecrackerconfig. It will ask what serial port /dev/firecracker should be symlinked to. If a user already has the symlink, the current readlink(2) value is used if it looks valid. All the serial cards with drivers in Linux 2.0.36 are considered valid. If the user doesn't have the symlink, /dev/ttyS1 is used as a default.

--no-ask

wmx10's postinst script calls firecrackerconfig with --no-ask so as to not pester the user during install if the symlink already exists. Presumably, if the user is calling this script interactively, they want to be questioned and therefore shouldn't need this option.
