# dwarf\_lne\_set\_address(3)

set the base address for line number information

## NAME

**dwarf\_lne\_set\_address** – set the base address for line number information

## LIBRARY

library “libdwarf”

## SYNOPSIS

**#include \<libdwarf.h\>**

*Dwarf\_Unsigned*\

**dwarf\_lne\_set\_address**(*Dwarf\_P\_Debug dbg*, *Dwarf\_Addr off*, *Dwarf\_Unsigned symndx*, *Dwarf\_Error \*err*);

## DESCRIPTION

Function **dwarf\_lne\_set\_address**() sets the base address used by subsequent invocations of the [dwarf\_add\_line\_entry(3)](/dwarf_add_line_entry/3.md) function.

Argument *dbg* should reference a DWARF producer instance allocated using [dwarf\_producer\_init(3)](/dwarf_producer_init/3.md) or [dwarf\_producer\_init\_b(3)](/dwarf_producer_init_b/3.md).

Argument *off* specifies a relocatable program address.

Argument *symndx* specifies the index of the ELF symbol to be used for relocation.

If argument *err* is not NULL, it will be used to store error information in case of an error.

## RETURN VALUES

On success, function **dwarf\_lne\_set\_address**() returns DW\_DLV\_OK. In case of an error, function **dwarf\_lne\_set\_address**() returns DW\_DLV\_NOCOUNT and sets the argument *err*.

## ERRORS

Function **dwarf\_lne\_set\_address**() can fail with:

- \[DW\_DLE\_ARGUMENT\]

  Argument *dbg* was NULL.

- \[DW\_DLE\_ARGUMENT\]

The argument *symndx* had an illegal value.

- \[DW\_DLE\_MEMORY\]

An out of memory condition was encountered during the execution of the function.
