**dwarf\_add\_frame\_cie**(*Dwarf\_P\_Debug dbg*, *char \*augmenter*, *Dwarf\_Small caf*, *Dwarf\_Small daf*, *Dwarf\_Small ra*, *Dwarf\_Ptr initinst*, *Dwarf\_Unsigned initlen*, *Dwarf\_Error \*err*);

## DESCRIPTION

Function **dwarf\_add\_frame\_cie**() adds a DWARF call frame common information entry (CIE) to a producer instance.

Argument *dbg* should reference a DWARF producer instance allocated using [dwarf\_producer\_init(3)](/dwarf_producer_init/3.md) or [dwarf\_producer\_init\_b(3)](/dwarf_producer_init_b/3.md).

Argument *augmenter* should point to a NUL-terminated augmentation string for the common information entry.

Argument *caf* specifies the code alignment factor.

Argument *daf* specifies the data alignment factor.

Argument *ra* specifies the column number used for the return address register.

Argument *initinst* should point to a byte stream containing the initial instructions for the common information entry.

Argument *initlen* should hold the length in bytes of the byte stream pointed to by argument *initinst*.

If argument *err* is not NULL, it will be used to store error information in case of an error.

## RETURN VALUES

On success, function **dwarf\_add\_frame\_cie**() returns the index value of the created common information entry. In case of an error, function **dwarf\_add\_frame\_cie**() returns DW\_DLV\_NOCOUNT and sets the argument *err*.

## ERRORS

Function **dwarf\_add\_frame\_cie**() can fail with:

- \[DW\_DLE\_ARGUMENT\]

  Argument *dbg* was NULL.

- \[DW\_DLE\_MEMORY\]

  An out of memory condition was encountered during the execution of the function.
