# drm\_fb\_helper\_init(9)

initialize a drm\_fb\_helper structure

## NAME

drm\_fb\_helper\_init - initialize a drm\_fb\_helper structure

## SYNOPSIS

**int drm\_fb\_helper\_init(struct drm\_device \*** *dev***, struct drm\_fb\_helper \*** *fb\_helper***, int** *crtc\_count***, int** *max\_conn\_count***);**

## ARGUMENTS

*dev*

drm device

*fb\_helper*

driver-allocated fbdev helper structure to initialize

*crtc\_count*

maximum number of crtcs to support in this fbdev emulation

*max\_conn\_count*

max connector count

## DESCRIPTION

This allocates the structures for the fbdev helper with the given limits. Note that this won't yet touch the hardware (through the driver interfaces) nor register the fbdev. This is only done in **drm\_fb\_helper\_initial\_config** to allow driver writes more control over the exact init sequence.

Drivers must set fb\_helper-\>funcs before calling **drm\_fb\_helper\_initial\_config**.

## RETURNS

Zero if everything went ok, nonzero otherwise.
