# diskless-createbasetgz(8)

create a base.tgz file for diskless initialization

## NAME

diskless-createbasetgz - create a base.tgz file for diskless initialization

## SYNOPSIS

**diskless-createbasetgz \[***temporal work directory name***\] \[***debian release tag***\] \[***mirror site address***\] \[***base.tgz absolute path location***\]** createbasetgz \[temporal work directory name\] \[debian release tag\] \[mirror site address\] \[base.tgz absolute path location\]

## DESCRIPTION

Creates a *base.tgz* file that can be used compatibly with *base2\_2.tgz* so that diskless can work as it used to do in potato. This program must be ran before running any of the diskless programs, to generate a template.

## OPTIONS

- **temporal work directory name**

Specify a random directory name for working. About 100MB of free space is required.

- **debian release tag**

  Specify "woody" for Debian 3.0

- **mirror site address**

Any Debian mirror should do. Use your own local mirror.

- **base.tgz absolute path location**

The path where base.tgz should be created. Something like **/home/user/base.tgz** should do.
