# ck\_ht\_entry\_set(3)

initialize a key-value pair

## NAME

**ck\_ht\_entry\_set** – initialize a key-value pair

## LIBRARY

Concurrency Kit (libck, -lck)

## SYNOPSIS

**#include \<ck\_ht.h\>**

*void*\

**ck\_ht\_entry\_set**(*ck\_ht\_entry\_t \*entry*, *ck\_ht\_hash\_t h*, *const void \*key*, *uint16\_t key\_length*, *const void \*value*);

## DESCRIPTION

The **ck\_ht\_entry\_set**() function will initialize the object pointed to by *entry* with a key pointed to by the *key* argument and a value pointed to by the *value* argument. The length of the key is specified by *key\_length.* The maximum value of *key\_length* is defined by the CK\_HT\_KEY\_LENGTH macro. This function is typically used to initialize an entry for [ck\_ht\_set\_spmc(3)](/ck_ht_set_spmc/3.md) and [ck\_ht\_put\_spmc(3)](/ck_ht_put_spmc/3.md) operations. It is expected that the entry will be associated with a hash table initialized with CK\_HT\_MODE\_BYTESTRING (see [ck\_ht\_init(3)](/ck_ht_init/3.md) for more information).

## RETURN VALUES

**ck\_ht\_entry\_set**() has no return value.

## ERRORS

This function will never fail.
