# cdetach(1)

detach encrypted directory from CFS

## NAME

cdetach - detach encrypted directory from CFS

## SYNOPSIS

**cdetach** *name*

## DESCRIPTION

**cdettach** removes the instance called *name* of an encrypted directory (created with [**cattach**(1)](/cattach/1.md)) from /crypt. The underlying encrypted version of the directory remains, of course, and may be attached again when needed with [**cattach**(1)](/cattach/1.md).

## EXAMPLE

- cdetach mab

  deletes /crypt/mab

## SEE ALSO

[cfsd(8)](/cfsd/8.md), [cattach(1)](/cattach/1.md)

## BUGS

Anyone can cdetach anything, even directories attached by other users. This can lead to irritating denial-of-service attacks.
