# cdbtest(1)

## NAME

cdbtest -- run test routines on a constant database

## SYNOPSIS

cdbtest \<*file*

## DESCRIPTION

**cdbtest** outputs information about a constant database. **cdbtest** assumes that standard input has the database open in readable and seekable form (This means pipes will not work).

**cdbtest** outputs some statistics related to the hash mechanism of the constant databases:\

- found

number of records found by their keys\

- different record

number of records where a wrong value was found by the key. This should happen only if there are identical keys.\

- bad length

number of records which had the wrong data length. This should always be zero.\

- not found

number of records not found by their key. This should never happen.\

- too long to test

number of records with keys bigger than 1024 bytes. These are skipped to keep the **cdbtest** program simple.

## RETURN VALUES

0 on success, 1 on a syntax errors, 111 on transient errors.

## RESTRICTIONS

Keys over 1024 bytes long are skipped.
