Aquantia / Marvell AQC1xx Ethernet driver

## NAME

**aq** – Aquantia / Marvell AQC1xx Ethernet driver

## SYNOPSIS

**device** **aq**

In [loader.conf(5)](/loader.conf/5.md): **dev.aq.***%d*.⟨*iflib* *tunables*⟩ **if\_aq\_load="YES"**

In [loader.conf(5)](/loader.conf/5.md) or [sysctl.conf(5)](/sysctl.conf/5.md): **dev.aq.%d.debug** **dev.aq.%d.debug\_categories** **dev.aq.%d.thermal\_shutdown.enabled**

## DESCRIPTION

The **aq** device driver provides support for PCIe 1/2.5/5/10 Gigabit Ethernet adapters based on Aquantia (now Marvell) AQtion AQC1xx Ethernet controllers.

For more information on configuring this device, see [ifconfig(8)](/ifconfig/8.md).

## HARDWARE

The **aq** driver supports the following PCIe Ethernet controllers:

- aQuantia AQC100 (100Mb/1Gb/2.5Gb/5Gb/10Gb SFP+)

- aQuantia AQC100S (100Mb/1Gb/2.5Gb/5Gb/10Gb SFP+)

- aQuantia AQC107 (100Mb/1Gb/2.5Gb/5Gb/10Gb RJ45)

- aQuantia AQC107S (100Mb/1Gb/2.5Gb/5Gb/10Gb RJ45)

- aQuantia AQC108 (100Mb/1Gb/2.5Gb/5Gb RJ45)

- aQuantia AQC108S (100Mb/1Gb/2.5Gb/5Gb RJ45)

- aQuantia AQC109 (100Mb/1Gb/2.5Gb RJ45)

- aQuantia AQC109S (100Mb/1Gb/2.5Gb RJ45)

## SYSCTL VARIABLES

The following read-only variables are available per interface as *dev.aq.%d.%s*, where *%d* is the interface number. Each is present only when the adapter's firmware supports it.

- *temperature*

  The PHY die temperature.

- *fw\_link\_up*

The number of link up transitions counted by the firmware.

- *fw\_link\_down*

The number of link down transitions counted by the firmware. Comparing this against the transitions logged by the driver distinguishes a single link event from a flapping link.

The following variable controls the PHY thermal shutdown. It is present only on adapters whose firmware reports a PHY temperature and lets the driver arm the shutdown, and it may also be set as a [loader.conf(5)](/loader.conf/5.md) tunable:

- *thermal\_shutdown.enabled*

Arm the PHY's autonomous thermal shutdown. Armed, the PHY drops the link when its die passes the threshold the board provisions; the driver reports the trip, waits for the PHY to cool, and brings the link back. The default, 1, arms the shutdown on every adapter that supports it, whether or not its firmware ships it armed; 0 disarms it on those same adapters. The driver applies the setting from its periodic status poll, normally within a second, and again after any reset of the adapter.

The following variables tune the driver's own tracing:

- *debug*

Trace verbosity: 0 disables tracing, 3 reports errors, 4 adds warnings, 5 adds traces and 6 adds detail. The default is 3.

- *debug\_categories*

Bit mask selecting the traced categories: init 1, config 2, tx 4, rx 8, intr 16 and fw 32. All categories are enabled by default.
