# apgp(1)

wrapper around pgp that provides passphrases for you

## NAME

apgp - wrapper around pgp that provides passphrases for you

## SYNOPSIS

**apgp** \[ *OPTION ...* \] \[ *FILE* \] \[ *USERID ...* \]

## DESCRIPTION

When **q-agent** is running, **apgp** can be used instead of **pgp**, and it will try to get all necessary passphrases from the agent instead of asking you directly.

Since all arguments are handed off to **pgp** verbatim, the interface of **apgp** is exactly the same as that of **pgp**.

The following **pgp** options will influence the behaviour of **apgp** itself:

- **-u, +myname** *NAME*

informs **apgp** that it should provide the passphrase for the key indicated by *NAME*.

- **--version**

**apgp** will output its version, too.

## COMPATIBILITY

**apgp** is inteded to work only with **pgp** versions that start with 2.6.

## ENVIRONMENT

- **AGENT\_SOCKET**

**apgp** will use this variable to find the socket for communicating with the agent.

- **PGPPASSFD**

Because this variable is used by **apgp** itself, any value inherited from a calling process will be effectively ignored.
